Each summer, the "Joves i Ciència" programme offers a select group of high school students the chance to experience real research in leading institutions across Catalonia. This year, Xènia Martínez, a student with a strong interest in science and technology, chose to join the Nanomol-bio group (ICMAB-CSIC & CIBER-BBN) to explore the world of nanomedicine and drug delivery systems.

During her two-week stay, Xènia was hosted by researchers Núria Pujol and Guillem Vargas, who guided her through the lab and introduced her to the group’s research lines. Together, they worked on designing and preparing lipid-based nanocarriers — a key technology for future therapies. Xènia had the opportunity to learn laboratory techniques, discuss scientific concepts with researchers, and get a taste of life in a research group.

Her stay was also supported by Anna Drou, from the ICMAB Communication Department, who helped coordinate her activities and documented the experience.

Nanomol-bio is proud to support initiatives like "Joves i Ciència", which encourage young students to pursue scientific careers by immersing them in real research environments. We hope that Xènia's time with us has sparked an even greater passion for science — and perhaps even a future in nanomedicine!
