The Marie Curie Award was launched by the Official College of Chemists of Catalonia (COQC) to recognise the scientific and outreach activities of women chemists at different stages of their careers. The initiative aims to highlight the contributions of women in chemistry while encouraging the next generation of scientists.
Núria Pujol is a third-year PhD researcher in the Nanomol-bio group at ICMAB-CSIC. Her research focuses on the advanced characterization of nanovesicles with antimicrobial properties, contributing to a better understanding of their supramolecular structure and their potential for biomedical applications. Alongside her research, she is actively involved in science outreach through activities such as school talks, the Pint of Science festival and the Barcelona Science Festival.
Reflecting on the award, Núria highlighted the importance of continuing to raise awareness of the gender bias that women still face in science. She described receiving the first edition of the Marie Curie Award as a great honour and a motivation to keep contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of supramolecular chemistry.
